Beta Xi and Omicron Gamma Chapters of Sigma Theta Tau, Nursing Honor Society of Wesley College and the Delaware Nurses Association Division on Research invite you to submit an abstract of completed or ongoing research for presentation at our annual research conference, “Energizing Nursing Research for a Healthier Tomorrow ” to be held on Friday, March 5, 2004. Abstracts can be submitted for consideration as either a paper or a poster presentation. We especially encourage students to submit an abstract for a poster presentation. There will be a cash award for the top three student posters. Guidelines for abstract submissions are provided. ACOG-ORTHO Fellowship in the History of American
Obstetrics and Gynecology
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Ortho Pharmaceutical
Corporation jointly sponsor two $5000.00 fellowships in the History of American
Obstetrics and Gynecology each year. ACOG members and other qualified
individuals are encouraged to apply. The recipients of the fellowships spend one
month in the Washington DC area working full-time to complete their specific
historical research project. Although the fellowships will be based in the ACOG
History Library, the fellows are encouraged to use other national, historical,
and medical collections in the Washington DC area. The results of this research
must be disseminated through either publication or presentation at a

The
Bowen-Brooks Fellowship for Advanced Studies at Oxford University
works to enable a recipient to spend one year in Oxford, England
in pursuit of advanced health care studies, a stipend of $50,000 will be
offered. The recipient will attend courses, observe patient care, and learn the
principles of evidence-based health care research and how to incorporate this
approach into the day-to-day decision making in clinical, scientific and
administrative health care settings. The program is in affiliation with the
Oxford University Programme in Evidence-Based Health Care, Green College, and
the John Radcliffe Hospital. The next fellowship award will be given in 2004.

The American
Association of Critical-Care Nurses issued a call for their Clinical
Inquiry Grants with multiple awards of $500 up to $5,000/year awarded.
The clinical inquiry fund
provides small awards up to $500.00 to qualified individuals carrying out
clinical research projects that directly benefit patients and/or families.
Interdisciplinary projects are especially invited.
Funds may be awarded for new
projects, projects in progress, and projects required for an academic degree as
long as all other project criteria are met.
The funds may be used to cover
direct project expenses, such as printed materials, small equipment, supplies
including computer software. They may not be used to pay for salaries,
institutional overhead nor augment funding from formal large grants.
